I’m sorry it’s been so long since my last post!! This past holiday season was a busy one for me. I hope it was wonderful for you all, though, and that you’ll have a great new year! 🙂

To start off with, this is a WiFi in Kiki’s town Meadow that actually should’ve been shared about in my last AC:NL WiFi post. I didn’t intentionally leave it out, but the screenshots from this WiFi got lost in a particularly huge SD card-importation, and I didn’t find them until later.

I went over as my character Violet for a change, since Kiki needed the sky wall for one of her rooms, and Violet currently has that wallpaper in her bedroom, so it was most convenient 🙂

Violet stepping into Meadow! What a pretty entrance ^^

After dropping off the wallpaper, she let me look around, which was nice of her since her town was under some top secret construction for a dream update! And at this point, the construction is long-over and the dream address is open to the public at 6200-2397-3562 — check it out 😀

Ahh what a cool tree-lined pathway to the cottage — and I love its exterior, too!

I assume this might be the room the sky wall was needed for? It’s veery pretty, wow 😮

An impressive collection of villager pics, and what a cute way they’re displayed :3

Kiki even gave me a villager pic to take home with me—Freya’s! Thanks so much Kiki, that was really nice of you ❤ Thanks for having me over as well, and sorry for this late post on it!

Another not-so-recent WiFi was with Lenore, and judging from the color of the trees, it was sometime last Autumn 😛

Lenore had just grown one blue rose from scratch on her own (!!!congrats!!!), so I gave her one of mine so that she could easily grow more from that pair 🙂

I thought this was a cool view of the town hall roof with the golden garden behind~

Lenore showed me around to the changes and additions in her town, including this little side trail that branches off from the path in her residential area.

The trail leads to some topiaries and a fountain, creating a pretty little secret garden x3 And it’s a great use of this little space by the river!

Lenore’s town is themed around the four seasons, and the spring-themed castle’s interior is coming along nicely!

Fell in a pitfall outside Lolly’s house 😛 Thanks for your concern Lenore xP

Noelle’s winter-themed property is coming along beautifully as well! I’d love to see how it looks currently, perhaps with a shimmering aurora overhead 🙂

Though the highlight at the time of year this WiFi took place, of course, was the Autumn-themed area of town! Everything was so fitting for the season and emphasized the warm colors so well 🙂

My favorite addition of all was probably the little sparkling blue pools by the town hall, fenced in by bushes. I just love the effect!

Since a fishing tourney was going on that day, I couldn’t resist participating a bit, and was pleasantly surprised that my randomly caught rainbow trout was the best catch of the day so far ^^

After that, we went over to my town for a bit. I didn’t take many pictures, but here are a few nice ones of us on benches:

This was a very fun WiFi; I got to visit Angie’s Halloween-themed town of Yorkwood for a Halloween party!

The party was basically open to anyone on Tumblr, so I’m glad I got a slot to come over! Look at all these goodies she had laid out for guests 😮

Having fun with said goodies 😀

The gift I was most thrilled about picking up was this yellow glow wand!! The last time the winter solstice event rolled around in my town, I got four blue glow wands, so I’m very excited to have a different color now  It reminds me of a witch’s magic wand, so I’ll probably give it to my character Violet (who’s supposed to be a magician) to carry.

Besides the goodies and fun Angie and her guests provided, there was also the standard festivities to enjoy as well, trick-or-treating the villagers and searching for Jack.

I also enjoyed just looking around Yorkwood since it’s such a wonderfully decorated and themed town, and I hadn’t ever been to it at night before (the dream address is usually set at sunset)

Pretty view here *__*

This winding river surrounded by wildflowers and foliage is perfect

And I love how there are so many purple villager houses in Yorkwood. Angie said it was an accident, too, how lucky!

Angie, me, and the other guests admiring the view of the starry sky over the lake x3

Just as Angie was showing us these spoooky skeletons in the candy kitchen (Hansel&Gretel-esque?), WiFi crashed and I decided to not come back in order to give others the chance for a slot in Yorkwood’s party. Thanks so much for hosting this fun event, Angie, I really enjoyed it — and all the gifts, especially my new glow wand! 🙂

Jumping ahead to the only recent WiFi in this post, I went to a second party in one of Angie’s towns, this time in her newly redecorated town of Maplerow on New Year’s Eve! 😀

The first thing I did was head to the plaza to meet Maplerow’s Isabelle and get a NYE hat from Redd. The only options for me were the green hat or the yellow hat, and I chose the yellow one, but ended up getting the other color hats in the gift-wrapped goodies scattered all over Maplerow ❤ Thanks for those, Angie!!

Maplerow is an all-bear town now, and they all looked so cute in their little hats :3 I was especially happy to meet Paula since I have her in my town too~

Just 10 seconds to go 😮

Yaaay  Happy new year! ❤ (Though for me it was really 8pm ^^)

Celebrating all over Maplerow with sparklers and poppers from the goodie bags:

We also made sure to get a special pic of us firing off sparklers together! From left to right it’s bebebese, me, grcninja, and Angie. And I really like the gif Angie made of this moment here

soo many beans xD

A glimpse of the special 2015 firework! Not a good pic of it, though..

Having fun in the adooorable playground next to the kindergarten-themed house!

Towards the end of the party we glitched across the train tracks and had fun there! I was taking an embarrassingly long time to glitch across with the net trick, so Anne/grcninja helped me out by doing the tweeter trick instead — thanks Anne!

After 2AM the fireworks stopped, but Izzy/bebebese noticed that the popping bubbles were like itty bitty mini fireworks, aww x3

Thanks so much for having us, Angie, it was a blast!! I really appreciated both these holiday parties since my own town is in a completely different season xP It was so nice of you to host them, and to be so generously giving with all the gifts. And thanks as well to the other guests who helped made these parties so fun :3

To explain the title a bit, in my head there are various different genres of towns, and one of my favorites is just a plain old, regular, cozy AC town. Still developed and creative and whatnot, mind you, just not an elaborately fancy theme beyond a cozy Animal Crossing village. I really like towns like this, and it’s the sort of ‘theme’ I want my side town Bywater to have one day. That’s the edition of today’s dream diary, and it’s probably an edition that will return in the future.

Scarlett

Dream Address: 4600-2362-5644
Owner: stitchesnstones on tumblr!

This town is soo beautiful and inspiring, it’s actually made me kinda jealous xP (Not unhappily so, just like..wow, how skillfully put together this town is!) There are lots of different spots of interest, and pretty much all the space in town is put to use. I hope you’ll enjoy visiting it as much as I did!

Some interesting touches on the side of this path. Are they little gems, or lights?

Pretty pond area 🙂

Woww I’d love to see this beautiful town hall entrance in a sunset!

On the right side of town there’s a natural/zen area that transitions into a camping spot. It’s really calming and well-done with all the white flowers and narrow stone paths. 🙂

Saying hi to Marshal at the bonfire ^^

Goodness, this is an adooorable playground area 😮

Below the playground there’s a bench spot by the river where you can cozy up and read a book 🙂

A pretty picnic spot by the waterfall.

One of my favorite spots in Scarlett is the ‘rainbow’ of fruit trees lining the dirt path, with a view of the windmill and wooden bridge in the distance.

Tehe this house exterior looks familiar!

It’s Melba’s! Hey dream-Melba 😀

I woudn’t consider the house interiors to be the main attraction of this town compared to the absolutely stunning landscaping, but they’re worth a look if you have the time. I love when rooms have lots of knick-knacks like this, it feels cozy and personal, like a real house.

わかば (Wakaba)

Dream Address: 3B00-001A-3F2C
Owner: Rystener

I first visited this town early on in my game, after I’d seen a post sharing about it on tumblr, and I didn’t think to save the address in any way other than having it in my tumblr ‘likes.’ Months ago I remembered this town after looking back on some old pictures I took from my first visit, and I’ve been hoping to find it again ever since:

But I looked through all my tumblr likes and couldn’t find it anywhere! D: I went on a huge hunt for it recently, asking around on AC forums, googling the pictures I took of the town, googling keywords, googling for dream addresses that were posted in a date-specified time period on tumblr, and so on. I was beginning to lose hope of finding this town again, but then it occurred to me that browsing pinkseacrossing‘s own dream diary might be a good place to look, since it has lots of little-known (to me, anyway) Japanese dream town addresses. And that’s how I re-found this lovely dream town! :’)

Wakaba town has been updated since I first visited, and has new paths (which I must admit I don’t like quite as much as the old ones) and is now set in Autumn during a beautiful fiery sunset. My heart burst with joy when I saw it was indeed the same town with many of the same spots I remembered:

Like this perfect park with a flower clock at its center, complete with matching flowers and fruit trees around the clock, and an extremely well-done dirt path adorned with little stepping stones.

This path to the cottage is very similar to how I remembered it too, but now has peach trees lining the path instead of cherry trees. 🙂 I like how the alternating pink-and-golden peaches match the sunset.

I think I kind of vaguely remembered this striking rose garden in front of the town tree as well, but mostly everything else in town seemed new and fresh to me (except for maybe a small deja vu-like feeling).

Love all the colorful tulips around this cute riverside picnic area 🙂

Streetlamps lighting the path, and a pretty pansy garden.

And a lovely rose garden! I like how this person showcases pretty much all the different flowers in their town (rather than me for example; I choose to mostly use lilies and violets).

And the sunset colors in the gardens here reallyy appeal to me *__* I feel like we have similar tastes/styles in AC garden-arranging, often using gradients and complex patterns.

One of Wakaba’s beaches is particularly stunning, featuring a gradient of practically all the flowers in the game:

It’s really fun to run along this path and admire the gradient — I encourage you to visit and try it yourself! 😀

And on the other beach there’s a pretty view of the windmill on the cliff!

The house interiors of Wakaba are very well-done too, so I encourage you to check them out if you visit! This Autumn garden room is perhaps my favorite ^^

This room seemed to me to have the purpose of showcasing villager pics, and it did a very good job at that, without being completely filled with only villager pics. I like how the colorful furniture compliments the portraits.

Ahh, this vibrant flowery room is beautiful! And there are quite a few more great rooms that I’ll resist sharing so you can go see them for the first time yourself 😀

Termina

Dream Address: 4000-4033-6656
Owner: User LinDUNguin on TBT

I stumbled across this dream town when its owner posted a thread on TBT asking for advice/criticism on their town, and I was so impressed that I didn’t have a lot of advice to give, and I’ve saved the address & visited it a few times since 🙂

Normally I wouldn’t bother to share a town’s map, but I think sharing Termina’s is important in seeing how impressive the town is. It’s structured really well, with the town tree in the very middle of town, with practically everything else branching from the town tree. If you go north from the town tree, you’ll come to the park in front of the train station. If you go west, you’ll come to a bridge that leads to the orchard and ‘theater.’ If you go east, you’ll come to a path that leads to the cafe and police station, and to another bridge that leads to Retail and the campsite. And if you go south, you’ll come to the third bridge that leads to a little residential area, the town hall, the beach, etc. This map with a U-shaped river with the town tree in the middle was pretty popular and sought after at one time (now I think straight rivers are more popular), but I’ve never seen it so well utilized and structured as this, that I know of. So I think this is a great town to go to if you want inspiration on how to give structure to your town if you have a centered town tree 🙂

This is the park in front of the train station, if you go straight north of the town tree. I love how neat and symmetric it is, and it’s such a nice entrance to the station 🙂

Lemme gush a bit how much I looove these brick-and-clover side paths:

And I’m jealous of these two ponds so close together, what a cute feature ^_^

I also want to gush a bit more about a particular spot with a gradient of roses, which I have quite a few pictures of:

Ahh it’s so pretty ;_;

Another spot I love is Henry’s house (heh, I recognize it ’cause he was in my town once) with the wisteria trellis and colorful roses! 🙂

Stitches’ colorful house + colorful pansies + the unusual boot PWP is a very cool combination, who’d’ve thought of it!

The brick-edged flowerbed matches so well with brick paths!

But I have something to break to you, those paths are no longer in this town xP

I miss the brown brick paths because I thought they fit so well with the town atmosphere and the brick bridges and all, and I’m a sucker for brown brick paths in general, they seem so cozy! But these new paths are great too, don’t get me wrong! 🙂 (And hey I can relate, I wonder if people visit my current dream town and think “hmm, I liked the snow and fairytale paths better” xD It’s all just personal preference)

This is the path to the cafe and police station I mentioned earlier!

And this is Termina’s orchard, sooo cute

The town theater — it’s great when people make use of signs 🙂 I’m too PWP-limit-conscious to make use of them much, but they’re nice touches.

The wonderful campsite in Termina, with another helpful sign. The extra grasswear in this area is a nice detail!

And lastly (though I’m resisting the urge to post even more screenshots), this playground area is adorable, just like the one in Scarlett earlier ^__^

I’m in love with these towns and with the cozy & quaint AC town aesthetic in general, so I hope you will enjoy visiting these towns as much as I have! 🙂 Here’s a little index:

End of April in Citàlune: Goodbye cherry blossoms, Hello azaleas!

Walking outside after the last of the cherry blossoms are gone, the first thing I do is land in a pitfall 😛 I usually have one buried behind Lyra’s castle to prevent pitfall spawnings, but I removed it for my dream update.

I tried to get one of those angrily-jumping-out-of-a-pitfall pictures, and instead got this…she looks so sad xP

Throughout the cherry blossom festival the weather was always clear and sunny, but now that it’s over I’m seeing a lot more cloudy days and rain. This was some nice calming 5 AM rain, though, and it was interesting to hear the rainy version of that hourly tune *_*

Some more 5 AM rain pics (idk, it seemed special to me):

The town tree probably looks better without all the pink, to be honest.

Fishing for April’s Tourney! 🙂

I got second place, and fittingly, the competitive town jock won.

Silly Colton, I’m trying to buy the compass on top, not the table! It’s actually a pretty big bummer you can’t buy furniture on tables, or tables either if there’s something on them.

Guess what?? I got my first ever AC:NL Streetpass   It wasn’t in my hometown, I got it when visiting my brother in Virginia. I wonder if I’ll ever get one where I live.

Her house exterior is pretty cute ^^

And the interior is decorated with a self-made town flag 🙂 I wonder if she’s a new player of AC:NL, or if she’s had it for a while and lost interest, or if expanding her house just isn’t one of her game priorities. But it’s really exciting for me to have something in my HHA Showcase other than the standard Nintendo SpotPass houses! 😀

I agree actually, Doc! In a town that’s themed around the sun and moon, cloudy days that hide the sunset and stars just won’t do 😦 Though I don’t mind some rain every once in a while, the rainy season gets a little too much for me.

I have fun giving Rod stereotypical pirate dialog 😛

My neighbors anticipating the arrival of Zipper T. Bunny.

It’s a little startling to see beloved areas in your town taken over by rocks on Bunny Day!

Caught a glimpse of Zipper’s zipper when he was doing his winner dance 😛

One of the many sky eggs that floated by. Bunny Day is a great opportunity to get balloon scenery pics, and I probably didn’t take advantage of that enough.

Colorful eggs ^__^ I already got the egg furniture when I had Bunny Day in Bywater, but I thought I’d participate in Citalune too.

Yeah, I got like 5 Zipper pics from the grand prize tickets in my batch of eggs 😮 Not really needing that many pictures of Zipper, and being too lazy to try selling them on one of the AC trading sites, I just sold the extras to Reese 😛

Haha xD I don’t think so, not according to Zipper anyway.

Just a couple of days later, there was another visitor in the town tree plaza! I’m really glad I happened to have no weeds in town for Weeding Day, because I forgot all about this event. D: I don’t have any immediate plans for the topiaries, but they’re nice PWPs to have. I like to think that Citalune’s landscape isn’t 100% set in stone forever (for instance, I plan on having an illumination park in the winter), so maybe I can try out a topiary garden somewhere one day.

It’s because she’s interested in Rod instead 😛 Still shipping it!

Just hand it right over, Bunnie! And anyway I always refuse errands like this because it can mess up their houses. Once I delivered something to Bruce and he ended up having a horribly clashing lovely lamp in his house for months 😐

I don’t go to the island daily like I should, but I was glad I visited once recently because this cool instrument I’ve never seen before was for sale.

Whatever Tortimer, I’m just here to get lilies and violets 👿 I take great pride in my AC gardening, actually xP

I wanted to try making the garden arrangement around this pond more ‘sunset’ themed, and this was my first attempt.

I decided I liked this brighter arrangement better, though, so I think it’s going to be like this for a while!

There’s also now a little stump for you to sit by the pond 🙂

I wanted to change the flower arrangements around the winding path from ReTail to the beach as well, and make it more sunset-themed, like a sunset counterpart to the winding path on the other side of town. But I’m a little torn what the best flower arrangement for it is, so I’d really appreciate your input!

Option 1: The original layout of tulips and azalea bushes I’ve had for a while, and which is in my dream address.

Option 2: An arrangement of tulips that emphasizes sunset colors more. Yellow and orange near the path, then it fades out to pink and purple farther away from the path.

Option 3: Lilies and violets instead of tulips, still in an arrangement that emphasizes sunset colors.

Option 4: Roses mixed in with the lilies and violets to add a bit of variety. It ends up looking sorta like the garden I have around the ReTail pond at the moment.

(Excuse my blinking, axe-wielding self)

Please feel free to give your input on which of these options above you like the best, or even give your own suggestions as well! I’m really not sure what to go with.

An itty bitty little change I’ve made to the moon side of town is to have two trees framing Estel’s castle instead of four. Before, I had four because I liked the idea of Estel’s castle seeming kinda private, guarded by trees. I also liked the mysterious-looking visual effect of part of the castle being hidden by trees because it makes you wonder just how big the castle is when you see some of its turrets poking out above the foliage, you know? But this way, with two trees instead of four, I like the more open look, the fact that you can see the whole castle from the distance, and that the night sky is more visible. I might end up going back to the four trees though, I don’t know…they both have their pros and cons.

I’m planning on making some changes to Estel’s rooms, like making more of them moon-themed with lunar horizon wallpapers and blue lighting. I’m also thinking of adding a back room.

Basically, I’m just very much trying to continue my efforts in making the sun-and-moon theme of my town more apparent! It might be a while before my next Citalune update because I hope to make new main paths in my town, to replace my current pink mosaic ones. I want them to be mosaic paths depicting the sunset, the moon, shooting stars, etc. I have a feeling it will be pretty complicated and take a while, but hopefully it will turn out well eventually! 🙂

Dream Diary 1 — Favorites Edition: Sugardew, Angie’s Towns, North

Dream Diary 1: Sugardew, Angie’s Towns, North | Next in Dream Diary »

I’ve been toying with the idea of making ‘dream diary’ posts on WordPress for a while now, and even contemplated making a new blog just for posts like this. But in the end I decided I quite like only having one AC blog to keep up with, so I’m just going to have the dream diary entries become a little side-segment here on A Forest Life that I’ll do every now and then. I like the idea of not only posting about my own town and WiFi friends’ towns, but also showcasing some of the other wonderful towns out there in the AC:NL universe 🙂

Sugardew

Dream Address: 6400-3072-1629
Owner: Mayor Izzie. She used to be on Tumblr but her site’s been deleted, and if she has a new one, I’m unaware of it. But she’s very sweet and talented!

Sugardew is one of my favorite dream towns to visit; I really admire how unique and seemingly spontaneous it is, from the winding paths to the unexpected PWPs and garden arrangements…hopefully you’ll see what I mean! 🙂

I think it’s neat how immediately upon ‘waking up’ in Sugardew, there’s a path for you to follow straight out of the bed. You can tell this town is practically made for dreaming in, since its paths seem a bit impractical for daily play and getting quickly from place to place around town (though maybe I’m wrong about that!).

An example of what I interpret as the spontaneity and creativity of this town…like who else would have thought of this wind turbine placement and path set-up?? But it works so well!

I come here sometimes for garden inspiration because I love how the unexpected flower arrangements (ie. not a ‘pattern’ of flowers) seem to burst with color.

This was my first time using throwing beans ^_^ They’re so fun and I love how they can splash in the water and bounce off objects, very detailed! I got some beans of my own in a trade not too long ago. Oh, and this is a cute little rose garden 🙂

The town hall is beautifully lit by lamps and surrounded by lots of foliage.

A cute lil stump and an Estel lookalike, hehe ^^

Some more well-done PWP placements. Excuse the mid-blink 😛

But this is my absolute favorite spot in my town, it’s just breathtaking with its variety of different plants *__*

This is just a little sample of Sugardew and there’s much more to see if you visit yourself — it’s a very fun town to explore with new things to admire at every turn, so I encourage you to do so!

Angie’s Towns

Maplerow Dream Address: New one TBA!
Wayfield Dream Address: 4F00-0023-63E9
Yorkwood Dream Address: 5C00-0023-6BF9
Owner: The mastermind behind all three towns is Angie! She has lots of helpful guides and pretty pictures on her Tumblr, and she’s the creator of the art of mayor Estel I use as my gravatar…many thanks to her for that!

Maplerow:

I’ll start off with pictures from the first of her three towns, Maplerow, the one she’s had since release, and which is somewhat based around her hometown. I’ve visited her towns multiple times so the pictures aren’t all from the same visit 🙂

Maplerow is truly amazing during Christmastime! I remember the first time I saw these rooms, I actually had a genuine emotional reaction: of joy from all the festivity

Warming up by the fire on a cold winter’s night 🙂 Urgh I don’t like when Wendell photobombs in dream town pics.

One of my favorite spots in Maplerow is all the streetlamps lining this path. I ❤ streetlamps, especially lots of streetlamps. It’s a bummer about the 30-PWP limit though.

I loove the riverside windmill in Maplerow. I might’ve been inspired to plant white flowers around my own windmill because of it 😉

This cliffside zen clock is really nicely lined up with Chow’s house!

The little vegetable garden behind the mayor’s house is such a cute idea and a great use of the fence PWP.

Wayfield:

Wayfield is probably my favorite of Angie’s towns, so there will most likely be a disproportionate amount of photos for this one. It’s based on her grandparents’ farm, where she would go to spend the summer, and the more rural(?) feel of it is so evident and seeped into every aspect of the town. It’s really beautiful and picturesque and cozy, and has its own character, like it’s a real place.

I still remember waking up in Wayfield for the first time and wandering my way into the topiary and wisteria gardens around the town tree, and thinking “wow, this is gonna be good” 😀 These pictures aren’t from my first visit, though. They’re from an update I especially loved because of the special purple-pinkish sunrise, which I haven’t had yet in my own town.

The elderly couple living in Wayfield, how sweet 🙂

Randy’s farm is one of my favorite spots!

Randy’s chicken coop adds really well to the farm theme.

The portraits on the walls add yet more personal touches to this town 🙂

A tiny weathered cottage in the woods.

Aah, lying in a hammock under the stars, with the sound of the waterfall and the rushing river in addition to nighttime sounds, what a beautiful place ❤

This is a minor little detail, but it’s a detail I really love: how well Bonbon’s house here fits in with the forest atmosphere and how it color-coordinates with the black flowers (which have always looked brown to me in AC:NL). Not only do the petals of the black cosmos match Bon-Bon’s house’s wall, the little yellow centers of the flowers match the roof too 😮

In fact, it seems like a few of the black flowers have yellow touches on them (like the tulips and lilies as well), so I loved the addition of yellow hibiscus to coordinate with that, and add a splash of sunny color!

On the other side of the waterfall, instead of black flowers, it feels like you’re walking on clouds with these dandelion puffs ❤

The statue fountain has to be one of my favorite PWPs, I always loove seeing what different people do with it. In this case, the use of it seems pretty simple but I still adore the look of the symmetric trees around it, and the bush-enclosure filled with pink roses 🙂

So much red 😀 She likes to use perfect apples abundantly in Wayfield just how I like to in Citalune. The perfect apples are perrty ❤

Stopping to get a sip of water ^^ The water fountain’s a nice little detail by the path.

Lastly to mention about Wayfield, I love the way the villagers’ yards are decorated. They all have their own personality, and this pondside house is especially lovely.

Yorkwood:

Yorkwood is the newest town of Angie’s, so I probably have fewer pictures of this one, but I encourage you to visit it yourself soon since it’s the perfect time of year to do so, being a Halloween-themed town. (Though in fact, I think all three of her towns are updated for Halloween at the moment!)

You’re given an appropriate outfit and some sparklers and roman candles to set off 🙂

One of my favorite little spots in town! I think in Angie’s other towns the flowers and trees seem more organized and orderly, so it was fun seeing her do the more wild-looking arrangements in Yorkwood!

A graveyard beneath the waterfall — spooky and pretty at the same time ^__^

The festive paths in Yorkwood! You know, I never thought of purple as a Halloween color before, but it does work extremely well with the color scheme!

Such a cute cozy cottage next to this pond ❤ I recommend checking out this edited screenshot of the spot here, it’s really pretty.

Love the look of the curvy river here!

Such an adorable candy cottage *__* (Ngl, my heart breaks a little that I can’t fit the sweets exterior into any of my towns. It obviously appeals to me a lot, having once decorated my AC:WW town in a candy theme!)

That’s it for Angie’s towns! They’re all so well done and different from each other, but you can still see Angie’s own unique sort of landscaping style in each one 🙂

North

Dream Address: 6C00-008A-0D67
Owner: Mayor Rae! You can find her on tumblr, where she has many lovely pictures of her towns, QR codes of her versatile stepping stone paths, and lots of sweet helpful advice for users’ questions.

If I’m not mistaken, I think North is one of the more well-known towns in the AC:NL community and has already inspired many people, so maybe you’ve already visited or seen pictures of it before! 🙂 But I wanted to start off my dream diary with some of my favorite dream towns, and there’s no doubt that North is one of them and belongs in this post. Something I really admire about North is how unified it is, with consistent paths throughout and a strict color scheme of white with hints of purple. I couldn’t do that, I just love playing with patterns and flowers and colors too much xD So I really admire Rae’s self-control in sticking to a very consistent aesthetic throughout town, and it really pays off.

I think Rae describes her own town remarkably well in the information page on her blog: “earthy and rustic, lots of trees and white flowers
villagers with natural colour palettes — shades of brown and white
lush, green, overgrown with a hint of ethereal presence”
Ophelia’s remark here adds to the mystique of the town and hints at the ethereal presence.

Tehe, I feel so cute in the ouftit provided! 🙂 There are several log benches throughout town for you to sit and admire the natural scenery.

Running around on the lovely stepping stone-and-clover paths throughout North!

The bus stop PWP provides some shelter for the rain — even for two little gyroids, it seems.

Haha xD This instrument shelter seems cool, I think I want to build it in one of my towns.

Feeling like a child again splashing in the puddles 🙂 There’s a cool pattern scattered around North that’s supposed to look like a puddle recently disturbed by a splash, so they’re perfect for taking pictures like this! Just change your clothes/accessory, and when your character is done with their flip in mid-air and is landing in the puddle, snap the picture at the right moment.

The waterfall area is very pretty with its white wildflowers!

Waving to the sweet & cute Lily ^_^ When I talked to her, she said “my horoscope said I would make a new friend today!” 🙂

Julian has recently left North to be replaced by Zell, but he’s still preserved in North’s dream for a little while longer. He looked fitting hanging out by the ‘secret’ fountain (it seems hidden since it’s surrounded by trees).

Lastly, probably the most mind-bogglingly amazing spot in North for me! It’s so perfect, and looks so mysterious and magical, like the shrine of forest fairies or spririts, or the mark of some long-forgotten event from the distant past.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about these beautiful towns and will enjoy checking them out yourself in the Dream Suite 🙂 I’ll list the addresses again as a sort of index for this post:

Instead of splitting April neatly in half for its two posts, I’m going to have one post be for the cherry blossom festival and one be post-cherry blossom festival, since the cherry blossoms are such a lovely and special time of year, and there are so many pictures to share. But before we get to those, there’s the first event of the month, April Fools:

Blanca set to work on befuddling the villagers with a doppelganger of themselves, and it was my job to clear things up and pick out the real one with the hints they gave me. I was able to do so pretty well on my own for the most part, but I admit to looking online when it came to birthdays. I’m not going to memorize all my villagers’ birthdays, that’s what the bulletin board is for xP But I was able to guess correctly that Bruce would rather be a pro golfer than a CEO, and that Julian’s dream was to be a designer rather than an architect, for example. In return I got a portrait of each villager, and since I have all my dream neighbors now, I guess it means the challenge of obtaining villager pics is over already 😮

Having all my dream neighbors also meant that I could finally get rid of all the house-repelling PWPs in town and build new ones, which quickly earned me a new reputation/rumor.

Admiring the effect of one such new PWP 🙂

This was quite a shock to see! 😮 It happened after celebrating the second fairytale clock, which was very close to the cliff, so I can only think that Paula was pushed up on the cliff during the celebration when they were all gathered around it.

It looked like she was simply enjoying the view, and the blowing blossoms on the wind 😛

In general Lyra’s castle area looked beautiful with the cherry blossoms, I thought!

Cheering on Pango to catch her fish ^_^

Reese must be a math whiz, doing all that in her head 😛

Ooh, this sounded sorta like a magical fairy feast to me *__*

I actually don’t really, but I’ve been forcing myself dive more lately for the sake of my museum, and it’s good that the tedious work has paid off a bit!

The reason why diving’s frustrating for me 😐 It’s also annoying that whenever you want to take a break or enjoy a calm moment in the water admiring the sky or the view of your town on the horizon, you’re immediately attacked by jellyfish over and over.

Another new badge I got! I don’t get too many weeds in Citalune because of BTO, so I think it’s mostly from when Estel did some weed-pulling in my other town when I was trying to collect the flower furniture.

I thought it was interesting how the current season was mentioned in Julian’s moving announcement, but I convinced him to stay, of course!

I’m going to transition into sharing about the many changes and additions I made for my town for the cherry blossom festival, and with the new freedom I have now that I got all my dream neighbors! 🙂

First of all, I’ll start by saying that I’ve toyed with the idea of having a ‘sun side’ of town and a ‘moon side’ of town for a long time now (first introducing the concept in this post), but now I’m really trying to solidfy the theme and make it more obvious what I’m going for — hopefully it’s starting to work! I’ve also decided to re-christen Citàlune and its theme as “city of the setting sun and rising moon.” Of course, something like that could never fit in a town name (especially an AC one), but in my head I like to think that at one point it was called “Cittàdel soleilune” or something like that, and then over time it was shortened to Citàlune.

Sunset side of town (top half):

Starting off with the main attraction in the sunset part of town, Lyra’s castle 🙂 The exterior is pretty much the same, but I’ve made some new mosaic path tiles depicting a sunset lead up to her house.

The interior hasn’t changed too much either, but I’ve tweaked a few things here and there, like the throne room, which now has actual thrones customized to purple. I’m pretty happy with this room because it really feels like a sort of sunset-themed throne room to me with its colors ^_^

And there are new, fancier chairs in the two performance hall wings.

The new clocks! I really like how the petals seem to be riding a wavy wind in this picture.

The town hall area is feeling nice and sunset-y as well, and it’s back to having 6 street lamps, 3 on each side. I thought about having 4 streetlights on each side, but decided that using 8 of my PWP slots on the town hall area would be a bit overkill xP

The entrance fountain has a new sunny garden arrangement around it, and there’s been a new bell built by the gate.

The Re-Tail pond has gotten a makeover, and it’s no longer Reese-and-Cyrus themed with its pink and blue color scheme 😦 I was sad to see that flower arrangement go, but I wanted to make the pond more colorful like the other parts of this side of town.

I couldn’t help taking a few last commemorative photos of the old gardening around the pond though 🙂

Pictures of the sunset side of town’s residential area with the cherry blossoms:

Doc’s

Rod’s

Pango’s and Gloria’s

Alice’s and Paula’s

Paula’s and Colton’s

Colton’s and Bunnie’s

Bunnie’s lighthouse area — it used to only have red, orange, and yellow flowers, but I decided a mix of colors might be nice.

The sunset beach has been enhanced with the new stepping stones, a wider variety of flowers, and new shells and gems washed up on its shore.

A spot by Paula’s house overlooking the beach

And lastly, the upper part of the central river nook has a special garden that’s supposed to depict the sun sinking into the horizon 🙂

Moonrise side of town:

Estel’s moon garden has gotten some new mosaic tiles and new benches! Originally I planned to have fairytale benches because, well, I have a fairytale town, but when I actually built them I didn’t like the effect. They’d be more fitting for Lyra’s castle entrance than Estel’s, but I’m already happy with Lyra’s entrance the way it is without any benches. So I ended up building metal benches for Estel’s garden, and I found a spot for a fairytale bench elsewhere 🙂

Tehe, I’m glad there’s no longer a misplaced house here 😛

The room with the biggest change in Estel’s castle is the bathhouse, which has been expanded and remodeled.

Violet’s house and entrance ^^

Lots of rooms in Violet’s house have undergone changes, some subtle and some not. This is a subtle change, but I like this version of Violet’s living room more than before 🙂

Violet’s magic work-room has changed considerably! I wanted to make it more obviously magical, so I threw in a few magic-in-pop-culture references like cards, a rabbit and a hat, a spinning wheel, etc. But I imagine the objects on the tables are the more serious magic devices, not mere tricks.

I wasn’t sure what to do in the right wing, but I knew I wanted something whimsical/magical like the rest of the house, and I do really like the sweets kitchen I ended up going with 😀 It’s also sort of inspired by and made in honor of Melba.

The fairy room downstairs, which used to be the location of a vibrant feast, is now a more quiet nighttime forest clearing.

I put some eggs around Violet’s bedroom and I think it was a cute addition ^^

The last character house to tour, Fern’s new Tavern! 🙂 Originally I had planned for a cobblestone exterior with a blue roof, but then I decided that the zen exterior & green roof would fit the title “Fern’s Tavern” more, and better coordinate with the windmill next to it.

The common room in the tavern, where travelers or guests can gather to eat, drink, and socialize.

I’m rather proud of the kitchen, it feels very tavern-y to me 🙂

The rooms for lodging in the tavern, where travelers can spend the night. I was inspired by “The Inn of the Prancing Pony” in the Lord of the Rings for this tavern, which had some rooms for hobbits and some rooms for ‘Big People.’ I put together the basement room with hobbits in mind, with its round windows and cozy beds; hobbits wouldn’t like the bunk beds or sleeping upstairs at all since they don’t like heights. 😛 I’m not saying there are hobbits in Citalune or anything, it’s just what I was inspired by xD You could also see the downstairs room as the nicer, more expensive one, and the upstairs room as the cheaper one.

Fern’s own bedroom is fancier than the lodging rooms — maybe unrealistically so — but whatever 😛

Another attraction on this side of town besides character houses is the town tree plaza, which I’ve tried to turn into a flowery forest clearing. I made some new patterns for the flowers, each with a different ‘density’ of flowers, and I like the less tiled/repetitive effect.

Hidden away beneath the waterfall, there’s a bench for you to sit and rest. I thought a fairytale one would look nicely here, with the bridge and clocks nearby.

The winding lane to the tavern

Hot spring glade

More of the dirt paths on this side of town

Similar to the sunset beach, there are also corresponding stepping stones and flowers on the moonlit beach 🙂

And a special garden dedicated to the moon on the lower part of the central river nook.

Once I updated my dream town, I did a test-run of the dream with Rose from Bywater (I’m always afraid a villager will plant a mismatching flower in the most horrible place as I’m running to the Dream Suite xP). I really liked the imagery of going back to sleep — or is it waking up? — in a flowery forest meadow after a vivid dream, so I guess I’ll end this post with that ❤
