As most Animal Crossing fans know by now, the release date for the English version of Animal Crossing: New Leaf for the 3DS has been announced: June 9 for North America and June 14 for Europe. I don’t have any extreme emotions towards the date itself (June or later was what I was expecting, so I’m glad it wasn’t pushed back further than that), I’m just thrilled and excited that there is now a specific, concrete date that I can mark my calendar with, count down for, and look forward to.

And now that my obtaining AC:NL isn’t in the vague category of the not-too-distant-future, but rather has a definite date, psychologically it almost feels like a deadline to figure out things like my town name, my character name, and what I want my town to be like by then. So I have been thinking more about these things since the release date was announced.

Plans for Dafdilly

« Previous in AC:WW Journal | Plans for Dafdilly | Next in AC:WW Journal »

Hey everyone, I hope it’s been a great new year for you all so far!

I’m really sorry I haven’t been able to do much for my blog since changing my URL. 😦 Since starting up school again, with classes, homework, and other activities, my days have been very full and it’s been hard for me to find a lot of time for Animal Crossing related things. Usually I’m reluctant to post unless I have lots of pictures of one of my towns, but I feel like a little update is necessary since it’s been so long.

In my last post, I hinted that a return to playing AC:WW regularly again was a possibility, but that I hadn’t decided yet, with AC:3DS coming out in the not too distant future and all, and my town being months behind. Well, I decided recently that I do want to start playing in my AC:WW town again and posting about it.

Whenever I say my town is behind, I mean that for a number of days (or months ), I didn’t play AC:WW. And when I want to play again, I set the DS date to the last day that I played to prevent neighbors from moving away and flowers from dying. So when I’m behind in time like this, to catch up, I time-travel forward one day, play that day, time-travel forward another day, play that day, and so on until I’m at the present day. But this time, I felt my town was just way too far behind to catch up this way, so I decided to just set my town to the present without playing the days in between.

You might wonder, “What about the neighbors? Won’t they all move away if you time travel months ahead?” Actually, if you time-travel forward a long period of time, you should only have to worry about one neighbor moving away. Time travelling forward any length of time = only one day passing as far as neighbors moving away are concerned. I knew it would be Maelle who’d move away because she was packed up before I time-travelled:

Bye Maelle…

I also didn’t have to worry about flowers because I’d packed them up a long time ago because of dead spot testing and hadn’t put them back in town yet.

So all I had to worry about was…

…lots and lots of weeds! It’s not very fun to pull that many, but if you’re focused, it doesn’t take forever.

And on the plus side, I found three four-leaf clovers!

And lots of gyroids. As you can see, only three fossils were to be found after all that time; this is because you can only have three fossils buried in your town at once, so it’s important to dig them up each day in order to get new ones. New gyroids are planted after any day it rains or snows, so they accumulate over time.

My neighbors were of course concerned about what had happened to me during my long “vacation.”

A new neighbor moved in to replace Maelle: another snooty, Whitney.

Then Tabby moved out. I’m eager to see who will replace her… a favorite peppy, like Rosie? 🙂 Pleeeeaase?

All this was happening during my winter break, so I got a holiday greetings letter from Mom. I hope you all had a happy holiday season as well!

I thought it would be cool to decorate my town with Christmas patterns, but I didn’t start making them soon enough. I only had a few days to make patterns and I didn’t get very far because I was busy spending time with family and such as well. This is the path I started to make, and didn’t finish (no point now):

It’s supposed to be hedges or holly bushes (not enough greens on the palette to really differentiate between the two, anyway) covered with snow and decorated with festive tinsel and ornaments.

It didn’t turn out as good as it looked in my head, but one thing I liked about it was that I made multiple patterns for the horizontal border pieces: one with a present, one with a candy cane, and one with a stocking. I think it adds nice variety to the path:

I’ll admit now that my town has gotten behind again. 😛 I set my town to the present on December 22nd, started to work on the festive path, but on December 25th time became frozen again. The reason why I’m not letting time pass normally is because I want to landscape and decorate my town again before New Years Eve in my town, when the cedars are all lit up. I know it sounds stupid, but it’s my game, and I can play it how I want to. xP

The patterns I’m planning on decorating my town with are candy-themed. I know… again? 😛 But I had already made these main paths and side paths a long time ago (and I’ve never used them in Dafdilly before), so it will save me the trouble of having to make new ones right away:

A different side path:

And to make this post less boring, I’ll share a few more candy-themed patterns I made a long time ago, but can’t use for my town right now because they were meant to blend in with the summer ground.

This is supposed to be a peanut brittle house. I’m also working on a gingerbread house, and I hope it turns out better.

I based my peanut brittle house on Gramma Nutt’s from CandyLand. 😛

And here’s an ice cream cone I made to sort of blend in on the summer dirt. Like the peanut brittle house, it was done on palette 5, an interesting palette because it contains a color that sort of resembles the summer dirt, but not as exactly as the colors on palette 12 do. On palette 12, I could have maybe used a grass background, a tan/brown cone, and turquoise ice cream to make a summer ice cream cone pattern, but I thought the colors on palette 5 would be funner with the pink and purple. I like the ice cream I made for the winter ground better, though, and ironically the color options were much more limited there. 😛

Well, that’s it, I’ll continue working on pattern-making and landscaping (using my dead spot testing results to plan trees) and getting my town to look the way I like it, instead of a barren wasteland. I can’t wait until it’s back to normal, and playing in it again day-by-day regularly, and hopefully WiFing again 😀

Edit: I realize I’ve made a lot of references to palettes in this post that would be confusing for someone who didn’t know them, so here’s a list of all the palettes:

Visit to Jemma’s town

« Previous in AC:WW Journal | Visit to Jemma’s town | Next in AC:WW Journal »

Isn’t this house pretty? I found it randomly when resetting one of my extra gamecards. It’s a Static’s house, and each villager always has the same, specific house shape… I have a Static in my town too, and also have this house style in my town, but he chose one of my town’s other house styles instead. >_< So no pretty pink and blue house with double wooden fans for me.

But that’s just a random picture that was on my camera when I uploaded the pictures from…

…a WiFi meeting with Jemma this morning in her town usa!

I wasn’t expecting any gift exchanges since this was a pretty spur of the moment, short-term notice WiFi, but she gave a surprise gift of several items and a purple rose! Thank you so much, purple roses are beautiful and always a help towards my pursuit of growing my first blue rose.

This balloon present flag is adorable!

I thought Jemma’s outfit was really cute, with her blue pigtails, green eyes, colorful polka dot shirt, rose in her mouth, and dandelion in her hair.

While she was preparing a game for us to play, I tried to get a full picture of the gate. But it’s not very good, you can see a reflection of my camera in the black.

It was like a memory game; she would list off a sequence of fruits, which grew longer and longer each time, and I would show I remembered the sequence by walking a circle around each fruit in order. I got all of the lists right, yay ^_^

I suggested a fishing contest to see who could catch 20 fish first, but with 3 minutes left on the timer and ~10 fish left to go, we were nowhere close. xP So it turned into a contest to see who could catch the most fish before the time ran out. I think those are the classic AC fishing contest rules anyway, though there can be variations, like who can make the most money off their catches, etc.

I was hoping to see a finned fish, but these are good catches too.

Ah, she beat me by 2, good job! 😀

We did a bug catching contest next and I was able to win that one.

Catching bugs was easier and more exciting than fishing, but they aren’t usually worth as much. This agrias butterfly was the rarest I saw.

*waves to Jemma across the river*

After taking a look at usa’s map and seeing all the awesome neighbors she has, I asked to go visit them.

First we visited Pecan, she’s one of my favorite snooties! 🙂 I want Queenie or Eloise for Dafdilly, but back when I was thinking of maintaining a second town (see my very first post >_<), I wanted Pecan to be the resident snooty there.

Well, I would base my ideal type on more relevant things to a relationship than Tae Kwon Do or making cheesecakes, but whatever works for you, no standards are too high. 😛

Her house is nice and looks close to the original decorations, maybe she’s a bit newer?

You must love it in usa then, there are many bright fruit trees everywhere, very pretty. 🙂

What? I see stuff in there!

She has Puddles too! And what’s more, both of us had her as our very first neighbor! (Well, you start off with three neighbors, but I consider her the first since she was at the top of the list on my map.) At first I was wondering why she was calling me Puppy ♥er, if it was a nickname or something, but then I realized it must be her catchphrase. 😛

Aww, seeing Butch makes me nostalgic a bit. He was one of my first neighbors in my first Animal Crossing town on the GameCube, and I talked to him a lot.

That’s nice 🙂

Eep.

But he warmed up to me quickly… we just met Apollo!

Ooh, I’ve been to A casa 🙂

Caroline is so bright, vibrant, and colorful — even her shirt is, I love it. She’s packed up but hopefully Jemma convinced her enough to stay, good luck!

After meeting usa’s last resident Drift, who seems cool, I thought I’d better go because…

My low battery warning light had been on for a little while, and I wasn’t sure where my charger was. >_< So I thought it would be best to leave in a normal way rather than the power randomly shutting off and ending communication… but I would have loved to stay longer.

Thanks for having me over, Jemma! I had a great time. 😀

Dead spot testing success

« Previous in AC:WW Journal | Dead spot testing success | Next in AC:WW Journal »

So this is the first update on my town in a long time, since I took a break from Animal Crossing for a few months starting in January (and only recently started getting into it again by working on the patterns page). I set the DS clock to the same date in January whenever I turned on my game so that my flowers wouldn’t die, and now I have a lot of catching up to do.

It was a good oppurtunity to finish a project I wanted to do a while ago (but ran into problems with my gridded map), testing for “dead spots” in my town. That probably won’t mean anything to some of you, so for those who don’t know, here are the rules for tree growth from Liquefy’s excellent AC:WW guide:

1) Trees will not grow immediately next to water, cliffs, other trees, rocks, buildings, plazas, signs, and bridges.

2) There are certain “spots” or paths where the game will not allow trees to grow, so that there is room for the villagers to move around when they are outside.

3) Each acre can have, at maximum, 24 trees. Furthermore, each quarter-acre (divide each acre into four equal parts where each quarter-acre contains 8 x 8 = 64 “spots”) can have, at maximum, six trees.

It is not necessary to water saplings. Walking on or running over saplings does nothing. The only thing that matters when growing trees is location.

All trees take four days to grow to maturity.

Get rid of trees by chopping them with your Axe, then digging up the stumps with your Shovel. Use a Shovel to dig up saplings.

One way to guarantee the growth of a tree is to chop down an existing tree, remove its stump, then plant fruit/a coconut/a sapling/money in the exact same spot. This is a good way to start producing coconut palms or foreign fruit trees. (Note that while using this method to start a Bell Tree will guarantee
that the tree grows to maturity, it does not guarantee that the Bell Tree will successfully produce “fruit.”)

The part I bolded, #2, is what I wanted to find out — the dead spots where trees will never grow in my town. It’s just frustrating to be planning a layout of trees and have saplings die when they should grow.

So after picking up all my flowers and storing them in dressers, I began by marking squares red where I’m sure no trees will grow because they’re too close to obstacles (water, cliffs, rocks, buildings, etc.). A good rule of thumb for making sure a tree isn’t too close to anything is if you can dig a hole where you want to plant the tree, and walk a complete circle around it. (So you actually can plant trees next to pavement plazas.)

Then I planted around 12 trees in each acre every day, spaced far enough apart, and recorded which ones grew and which ones died. This is the final result. The darker red squares are the ones I eliminated before starting, the lighter red squares are the dead sopts I found, and I left the spaces white where trees grew:

Isn’t that interesting? I was expecting a random spread of dead spots, not these invisible treeless paths around town — presumably tracks along which my neighbors wander everyday. 😮

Time passed in my town as I was testing for dead spots, so there have been some neighbors changes:

First Pippy packed up and moved, I admit I was quite glad. 😛

Another peppy, Tabby, moved in to replace her. She’s not one of my favorite peppies but I like her. I have a real female orange tabby! 😛

Second to move was Monique.

To replace Monique was not another snooty, but a jock — my favorite jock! Kid Cat is one of the neighbors I wanted to lock in Dafdilly, so I was thrilled to see he moved in!

Then Antonio was the next to go…

And he was replaced by Samson, so I still have two jocks in my town.

I used to have Margie locked (with Puddles), but decided to unlock her because I would rather have my favorite neighbor Melba. I moved Margie to my dad’s old town Red Bank, though, so she’s still around.

I couldn’t believe it, right after that Melba moved in! So lucky! 😯

I was also lucky to pick up a few rare items that I didn’t have:

Like this garden gnome, I’ve always wanted one.

Well, I guess this isn’t rare, but I don’t think I’ve ever had one and I think it’s pretty cool! 😛

I rarely ever see anything I don’t already have at Redd’s (even though there are lots of Redd-exclusive items I still need), but I just bought this weird raccoon figurine.

My town’s in February now, which means Bright Nights:

I like all the house styles in my town (they’re the exact 4 I decided I wanted while resetting), but I wish new neighbors moving in would pick the pink house style more often. It’s my favorite, and the dark green one, which is my least favorite, seems the most popular. 😦

All the lights are basically the same, but I picked Kid Cat’s lights as the best everyday in the hope that it would boost our friendship level, lol. (I want his picture.) Tortimer noticed.

When I played today, Bright Nights had just ended and Kid Cat was pleased to be the winner. 🙂 Now that I’ve finished dead spot testing I’ll probably move my flowers back, plant trees, and make patterns, getting my town back to how I like it.

Party in Lilypond

« Previous in AC:WW Journal | Party in Lilypond | Next in AC:WW Journal »

Haha, I feel like with every new WiFi party post, the fact that I haven’t posted on my own towns in a long time becomes more conspicuous. (Well, at least I’ve been pretty good about posting on my WiFi visits, right? >_>) I’m really sorry guys, that I don’t have as much time to dedicate to Animal Crossing and this blog as I would like to. But like I said in my last notice, when I have spare time I’ve been working on my patterns page. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, practically since I started this blog, so I wanted to dedicate some time to working on that alone. Once I’m done putting up some more spring-suited patterns (I’ll put up the winter and fall ones later), though, I do want to start working on getting my town caught up. Because yes, it’s still in winter, as you can see:

This was at least a few weeks ago, I think. Claire from An Ville came over for a new haircut and we also chatted and had a fishing contest. I didn’t take many pictures but it was a good time. 🙂

Today I went to a party hosted by Anna (some of you may remember her better from my blog as Skye or from ACC as MonkeyDoodle) in Lilypond! 😀

(I’m sorry in advance for the poor quality photos, especially compared to the pictures from the party in An Ville, but for some reason my camera has a lot of trouble capturing AC:WW in the evening. :()

The first thing she did when I stepped through the gate was give me a present, sweet!

It’s a halo! Thanks a lot  And hey there, anime-eye Anna. 😛 The glitch occurred when she was changing accessories and I happened to get a picture.

Aww yay, I think this is the first time I’ve seen someone use a pattern from my patterns page! This is meant to go with the fenced-in pansy border, and that’s why the bricks are rather plain, but it still looks fine by itself and the pansy patterns are probably too complicated to copy.

The first party activity was a game of tic-tac-toe!

Mine are the oranges, and hers are either gyroids or treasure boxes. As you can see, the first game was a draw.

But Anna won the next one 🙂 (she’d picked up a few of the gyroids before I took a picture)

For the third game, I went first and implemented the “corner trick” I remember from when I was little. If you go first in a corner, and your opponent doesn’t go in the middle, you’re pretty much guaranteed to win if you choose a different corner next. Well, I bet everyone knows this, but maybe we were going easy on each other so that every game wouldn’t be a draw. 😆

So I won that one and got a prize of 10,000 bells! Which is a lot, wow, thanks Anna 😀

Anna told me that one of my favorite neighbors lived in her town, so we went to visit…

Hugh! He actually isn’t in my very top tier of neighbors, which includes Melba and Bob, but I like him a lot because he’s unique-looking and I think his facial expressions are always amazing (just a few examples above).

I like his house shape and this house style a lot, too, and wanted to see what other houses she had in Lilypond. I don’t know, it’s probably weird, but I really like the houses in AC:WW, there’s such a wide variety and combinations of different styles and shapes.

I like this second house style, too, yellow stone. 🙂

She pointed out the diagonal formation of her neighbors’ houses, which is awesome!

It’s easier to see on the map:

This is one of the cooler house shapes because of the double roof thingy (lol); Truffles here has it, as well as Rolf, Bluebear, Static, Curt, Mathilda, and probably others I’m forgetting. 😛

I thought there was a nice stone connection with the first two house styles, so I was surprised to see this one, a wooden house style that I have in Dafdilly. It probably doesn’t appeal to everyone, but it’s one of my favorites and I resetted for it, I love the colors and checkered doors.

Okay, enough talking about houses >_<

I heard a mole cricket nearby, they’re always fun to try and catch. I found it in the first hole I dug. 😮

All of a sudden she gave me another present! Thanks so much, I hardly have any gold roses (I think just one), so this is really generous and I appreciate it a lot. 😀

Next we visited a few neighbors, like Goose:

Haha, really…? His house was warm and cozy with all the places to sit and K.K. Country playing.

When we went back outside, Anna and I were morphed! She said it was her first morph so I’ll put several pictures:

Then I met Walker, wow, his eyes are such a bright blue.

Jeopardy was playing on his retro TV and Anna started guessing answers to the show 😛

Then we played another party activity, which was a game to dig up the correct object, a wobbelina. I had three tries to dig up the wobbelina but got it on the first try 😛

For a prize I got a rainbow feather, it’s beautiful 😮 Thank you so much!

She realized she hadn’t shown me her house yet, so led me there. 🙂

Nice regal room, I really like the combination of the regal carpet and blue-trim wall. 🙂

o_O

Worn out, we decided to take a nap.

At first we slept peacefully…

But that didn’t last long xP

Haha, I love our glares here.

Yay, someone else came! I’m glad; it looks like Anna worked hard on preparing the games and prizes, so it would have been a shame if I was the only guest.

I don’t often WiFi with new people, so it was really nice to meet someone new. 😀

Anna suggested a race next, so here we are on the starting line.

I fell in about three pitfalls 🙄

I took so long that Anna called out “Twisk?” like I was lost. xP Good job, Clone, you were obviously better at evading them. 😛

We chatted some and lined up for a group picture, which I think Clone 1 was confused about before we explained. 😛

Then it was time for Anna to leave and party over. Thanks for such a great party and all your wonderful prizes and gifts, I had a really fun time! 😀

Kammile’s party in An Ville

« Previous in AC:WW Journal | Kammile’s party in An Ville | Next in AC:WW Journal »

Haha, this is yet another AC:WW WiFi party post! Today I went to a party hosted by Kammile in her new town An Ville. 😀

She has a gate pond like me! I really like this feature, but it means you always have to wrap your paths around. 😛

It’s my first time in An Ville, so I take a look at the map. I like the island. 🙂

We took a stroll along the path while waiting for others to arrive:

I like how the house styles match the path’s colors!

Our walk didn’t last long because Jemma soon arrived, yay ^_^

We met up at the gate and decided to wait a bit longer in case someone else was coming.

And while we waited…

There’s a cool glitch that sometimes occurs during WiFi when a character’s normal eyes briefly change to the sparkly anime eyes. It seems to happen after swapping clothes/accessories. My character Twisk’s eyes are black, so the glitched anime eyes she gets are just the regular ones. But Kammile’s are brown, so I wondered if Jemma’s would be green…
And they are! I was really curious what they would look like. Now I want to see blue ones. 😛

Another one, but it’s basically the same picture, same sparkles and all. o_O

No sparkles in the way this time! 😀 I’m glad I was able to get a pretty good picture because it happens in a flash and then they’re gone.

We finished waiting for late arrivals after that and started the first game, a race to find the buried timer before the time runs out. I love that it was a mix between a time bomb game and a treasure hunt, with lots of buried treasure around to help disguise where the timer was buried.

I’ve never had a triforce before but I’ve always wanted one, so I was thrilled to find this! 😀 I also dug up a yellow feather (awesome, haven’t really donated anything to Boondox yet :P) and another Zelda item, the Master Sword.

I dug up the timer and saved the day. xP In addition to keeping the treasure we found, Jemma and I also got bell prizes for finding the timer within the time limit. Thanks Kammile!

The next game is a classic — tag — Animal Crossing style with nets. 😛 Kammile was “it” and Jemma was last to evade being whacked by her net, so she won.

The final game was a unique race in which Jemma and I had to stay within our narrow one-pattern wide lanes, which were ridden with holes to kick dirt into and pitfalls to struggle through. There was an even amount of pitfalls and holes in each lane, but they were spaced differently, which increased the suspense. For example, if you fall into a pitfall and watch your opponent continue to run, you feel like you’re falling behind, but then they fall in a pitfall later on and you’re able to catch up. It was really well done. 🙂

I got to the finish line first, but Jemma was close behind, kicking dirt into the last hole.

Then she let us hunt for the remaining treasure, so nice!

I might have won more of the games, but since Jemma found a throne I think she won the whole party! 😆

For the rest of our stay, Kammile let us explore her town and visit her neighbors, and I took a lot of pictures. 😳

An Ville’s cherry blossom festival is still going on, I see. 😀 I love when you’re able to get several trees in a row like this, it doesn’t see to work for me often.

A random, useless observation: when you shake a cherry blossom tree with furniture/money in the branches, green leaves fall instead of pink ones.

I made similar-looking paths last Fall (same palette, bricks bordered by fenced in flowers), but I think these colors look a lot better during the springtime, bringing out the pink cherry blossoms and red, white, and purple flowers:

The way An Ville is landscaped reminds me of her old town StarCity. 🙂

I thought this had a park feel with the bench, flowers, and orderly trees.

Pretty white pansy garden 🙂

This is my favorite type of pond you can get in AC:WW because of how big it looks (but technically I think it’s the same amount of spaces as other ponds). Another cute spot with a well-placed bench ^_^

I went to meet Poncho, one of my favorite jocks. He’s such an adorable little bear.

And Dotty, yay, I love her! 😀 I think she was one of my first neighbors in my first ever AC:WW town. Well, I don’t remember it, but (before I deleted the town) I looked at my oldest saved letters and villager pics. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to start an Animal Crossing blog, so I don’t forget such things. -_-

Yeah, well, your house is kind of weird, Dotty… I guess you have a desert alien planet thing going on.

The exterior is nice, though, with all the flowers around her house. Has the flower fest started yet? /out of the loop

A full pic of Claire’s purple, not-quite mansion — I think there’s just one more upgrade to go!

Another one, with me cropped out this time. If you look closely, doesn’t it sort of look like smoke is coming out of the chimney?

Already has a nice hybrid garden going. 🙂

This is my favorite house shape; Melba, Jeremiah, Patty, and Anchovy all have it. And I guess Ribbot, too, because I think this house is his. 😛 Maybe one day I’ll make a guide with all the town house styles and villager house shapes.

Kammile and Jemma were visiting Ribbot and when they left the house, they became fused!

Sometimes Jemma was in front…

and sometimes Kammile was in front…

But what’s coolest to see was when one eye was Kammile’s and one eye was Jemma’s!

Wink? 😆

Jemma and I both bought something from Nookway so hopefully it will upgrade to Nookington’s soon. 🙂

A full, distant picture of the waterfall… you can tell I like taking these sorts of pictures, can’t you? >_> I first learned the technique of taking a picture as the bottom screen shoots into the top one (after pressing Y or X) from Teru’s blog.

And a full picture of the gate… why not? 😛

Finally we all met up again after doing our individual explorations and chatted some more 🙂

…and took emotion pics. xP Poor Claire is emotionless, though, because Dr. Shrunk hasn’t come to An Ville yet.

Jemma had to leave, and after chatting for a while longer with Kammile I had to go too, so the party ended. It was a lot of fun! Thanks for the treasure, prizes, and good time Kammile!

Let’s try this again…

« Previous in AC:CF Journal | Let’s try this again… | Next in AC:CF Journal »

Remember how I bought City Folk last fall, created a town, rebuilt it because of being picky, and then nothing happened for months? (Maybe not…) Well, I started looking for a town again recently — mostly because it’s springtime and one of my favorite Animal Crossing series is available at GracieGrace (but I think I waited too late, it’s really expensive and there’s not as much time left as I thought >_<) — and I settled on a town today! It's still called Seahaven and my main character is still named Lyra, but her face is different.

The flying blossoms felt like a celebration for my arrival, a much different atmosphere than last time, late at night with the old-fashioned gate and Autumn grass.

Town map and Lyra’s house location:

I saw much fancier maps while resetting, but some of my requirements didn’t have to do with the map. What I wanted was:
-triangle grass
-the palace gate
-stone/planked house combination
-an island
-at least one bay
-a crooked waterfall
And I got all those things, so I’m pretty satisfied. 🙂

This is my little island and bay. Hope someone moves into that spot!

Crooked waterfalls are my favorite, I love how they look at all angles and standing next to the sideways pool feels cozy.

I also like this ridge on the east side of town with a ramp at the end:

Time to go through the drill of picking a house, talking to Nook, doing chores, etc. >_<

This is the interior of the house I picked (on the map it’s the orange house).
I’ve… seen worse xD The wallpaper’s even kind of nice.

Meeting my closest neighbor first, Peanut:

Willow also lives nearby:

Her big green eyes!

Hugh was hanging outside her house…

Aptly-named Harry:

Sweet Daisy:

And Jitters:

But wait… am I forgetting someone?

Yep, I went to start my job at Nook’s Cranny, thinking I had met everyone, but forgot about the mayor:

Can’t lie with this question, it has to be cats 😛

Just like last time, I planted the gardening job flowers on a dirt spot to hopefully help the grass grow back.

But I planted the saplings behind my house, ahh, they’re so cute during the cherry blossom festival ❤

I can do the AC:WW chores in like 5 minutes, but these seem to take forever because of the additional neighbors and larger town. Harry had sympathy for my plight.

But I got them done in the end. 😛 And I’m only what, 1,400 bells down?

My house looks a little better with the round carpet Peanut gave me, and uhh, thanks for the ancient Greek column Harry. Just what I need for my 4×4 room. It will probably stay this size for a while because I’ll be throwing all my money towards the princess series. My priorities…

Disclaimer: How often and long I play this for is kind of up in the air. I don’t know if I can handle both AC:WW and AC:CF at once, and I’m really biased towards AC:WW and its portability (and of course there’s going to be a new portable Animal Crossing game coming out — hopefully — soon xP). AC:CF’s controls and the fact that I have to play it on the TV are kind of annoying for me, but I’ll give it a try. 🙂

Edit 4/7: Here’s a gridded map I made of my town in its original state. Someone new has probably moved into one of the empty houses today. The trees are so clumped together in certain places while other areas are so bare, going to need to fix that eventually. >_<

Emma’s party

« Previous in AC:WW Journal | Emma’s party | Next in AC:WW Journal »

This post is rather late, sorry about that! I had to focus on a particular school assignment for a few weeks. >_< Anyway, Emma of HP and More, who runs a Harry Potter blog but also plays AC:WW and is involved in our Animal Crossing community, hosted a WiFi party in her town on Saturday, March the 24th (the timestamps in these pics are wrong, haha). Also check out Kammile’s post on the day here.

I was first to arrive, and Emma (character name Coco) welcomed me to her town 🙂

This party is a late celebration for Emma’s birthday, so she requested that I bring a cake (I have several extras). Happy belated birthday, Emma! 😀

It’s my first time in A casa, so I checked the map:

Emma and I were heading to The Roost for some coffee when Jemma’s character Rina arrived! 😀

We met outside the museum, and shortly after…

Kammile’s new character (she recently restarted) Claire showed up! 😀

Yay, full town  There was a time when Kammile and I practically WiFied together every week, but we hadn’t in months before this, so it was great seeing her again!

Now that we’re all here, it’s time to prepare for the first game… check out the awesome Harry Potter patterns!

Emma showed me my starting position by these pumpkin patterns.

It seemed to be a sort of maze around the pitfalls, and I didn’t fall in any, so I think I did well. 😛

This was really cool, a snowy path surrounded by cedar trees!

Ooh, it’s called Santa’s path for a reason, she has presents for us 😀

She says the presents are Harry Potter related, and I definitely know what this is a reference to — those enchanted chess sets. I also got a doctor’s mirror, thanks Emma!

Emma provided us with rocker clothes! Kammile and I kind of match, and Jemma looks awesome with her mohawk 😆

Then Emma gave each of us a tour of her house. Since only two people can be inside a building at once, Kammile went first while Jemma and I chilled in the jacuzzi.

Scheming rocker Jemma xP

Next it was my turn:

This is the Dreams Cafe, I really do love it! The clouds, flowers, white and gold furniture, leaf chairs and mushroom lamp, it’s all so beautiful and dreamy ❤

Such a cute collection of clothes! Too bad the speech bubbles are in the way >_<

And this is the strange objects room! As Kammile said, all of Emma’s rooms have a whimsical and surrealistic feel, like Alice in Wonderland.

I check out the last room upstairs (a bedroom?) and play with the jack-in-the-box, then it’s Jemma’s turn to explore the house and back to the games.

Emma hid for a quick game of hide-and-seek and was found by Kammile:

😛

Eep, they all have axes except me! There are a few tools I never bring to other towns, like the axe, slingshot, and watering can.

Kammile…? 😮

Using my awesome axe-breaking powers.

We stop to admire these Ministry of Magic patterns, appropriately in front of the regal town hall building.

This looks set up to be a peaceful picnic, but it’s really the location of the party’s last organized competition — to see who can collect the most apples 😈

Standing by my pile of seven apples:

I only won by one over Jemma, it was close!

Emma wanted a group picture by the waterfall. To answer the question, I guess Kammile and I 😛 (I like hers better!)

Jemma and I fused, sharing one eye. xD Kammile had the idea to try and fuse all of us together, but we couldn’t even get three. 😦

For the final ten minutes or so of the party, Emma let us explore her town and visit her neighbors.

Ooh, she has my favorite house style 🙂

Also got a decent full picture of Emma’s pink mansion ^^

There are cute, colorful patterns and shells at the beach — looks like maybe for a game we didn’t get around to doing?

I loved the cloud path around Emma’s town and took lots of pictures of it xP

Since I usually set up straight, dir
ect paths, it was really cool seeing this winding riverside path.

A pretty mix of clouds, flowers, and trees by the shops:

Bumped into Emma 😛

Both Emma and Jemma had to go soon after that, but we took a few group pictures by the Harry Potter patterns before partying over. All of us look thoughtful and serious except for smiling Emma. ^^ Thanks for hosting such an awesome party, Emma, and I had a great time with all of you! 😀

Kammile and I had some more time to spare and she wanted to come to my town afterwards:

Yes, my town is still in January and decked out in those candy patterns from my WiFi birthday party. >_< But Kammile couldn't make it to that, so I'm glad she got to come and explore, dig up the remaining treasure, and set off some party poppers. 🙂 We mostly just chatted, though, and I didn't take many pictures. Thanks for the lovely time, Kammile! 😀

I do think I’m going to try and get back into playing in my own AC:WW town soon, but we’ll see, it’s probably going to be a really slow process. I want to start by finishing that dead spot testing project I abandoned a while ago, then slowly work my way up to the present — not rushing, so I can still savor the last of winter and beginning of spring.

Jemma’s spring party

« Previous in AC:WW Journal | Jemma’s spring party | Next in AC:WW Journal »

I haven’t played AC:WW daily since my WiFi party back on January 15th; instead of a birthday party, it turned out to be more of a going away party, lol. 😛 My town is still stuck in January, but it’s turning to spring in all other Animal Crossing towns, and this morning Jemma hosted a spring party in her town usa! (See her posts here and here, and Usagi’s posts here and here.)

My wintry attire wouldn’t do for the party, I thought, so I changed to something more springlike.

But it turned out to be unnecessary because the first thing I did when I arrived (late, sorry, my alarm didn’t go off as planned >_<) was change into one of Jemma's costumes. I'm Little Red Riding Hood, I guess, and Usagi’s character Nigra is an angel.

Jemma’s town is decorated beautifully for spring, especially the entrance!

And flower paths, flowers everywhere! 😀 I think Usagi was wondering what I was doing standing in the middle of the path for a while, trying to get a decent picture (I’m rusty xD).

All the green is such a refreshing change from my town!

Now for the games…

First was an obstacle course race, in which we dug up a series of holes, zig-zagged around palm trees, picked up two seashells, and brought the seashells back to the other side, still zig-zagging around the trees. I went first but don’t remember what my time was. 😛

Usagi’s turn!

I thought for sure Usagi was faster, so I was surprised to hear I won. 😛

Usagi already scheming for the next game xP

…and she got her revenge! 😛 Usagi won the second game, a race to get through a maze of holes.

Then pitfalls were buried in the holes, transforming the maze into a minefield. I fell into one pitfall, while Usagi was sort of sucked into two of them. o_o So I finished first, continuing our back-and-forth winning/losing pattern.

Jemma and I got distracted chasing butterflies xP

And Usagi fell asleep 😛

Jemma and I hid behind the mansion while Usagi was asleep, and after my nearby comment, Usagi obviously found us easily. 😛

Net fight! 😈 There were quite a few of those, haha.

Jemma had a surprise for each of us inside her house…

The surprise isn’t here, but I stopped to admire this classy main room.

Upstairs Jemma has set up this wonderful Spring Cafe! 😀 There’s a cafe of that name in my city, haha.

Even better than The Roost 😉

After our coffee break, it’s back to the party games. I saw these cute patterns earlier but didn’t realize they had a purpose; they’re actually ‘bases’ and the object of the game is to capture other players’ bases (moving two spaces each turn towards a base) and protecting your own with pitfalls. Fun, creative game!

We all captured each others’ bases though, so it was a tie. 😛

Now for another refreshment break, a picnic 😀

This was really sweet, Jemma set up an area for the three of us to plant fruit trees that she will leave in her town forever. 🙂 I sure hope they grow! >_<

After that it was time to go, but we took group pictures by the gate before partying over. Thanks for hosting such a fun party, Jemma!

A WiFi birthday party

« Previous in AC:WW Journal | A WiFi birthday party | Next in AC:WW Journal »

(Edit: Check out Teru’s and Jemma’s posts on this WiFi party as well!)

Today was my birthday, Twisk’s as well. Puddles came to deliver my present, which I was really happy about since she’s my last original neighbor and one of my dream neighbors I’ve locked in Dafdilly. 🙂

I didn’t, though, but okay 😛

Another cake! I already have two on the table in my main room, would three cakes be overboard? 😛

But it was just your birthday the other day! 😆

I also made preparations to host a WiFi party in my town this morning. Teru’s character Rain was the first to arrive:

Yay, I’m glad you’re here! ^_^

The first words she said after entering from the gate:

Thank you! 😀
I thought it would be cool to have a snowman right by the gate, but I totally messed it up after realizing you can’t prop up snowballs into snowmen on the pavement. >_<

Then we exchanged presents! I gave her a lovely phone, which I forgot to leave out for her to touch in our last WiFi meeting, and two of my favorite shirts, the silk bloom shirt and dreamy shirt. And I received a wonderful gift, the last painting I need for my museum’s exhibit! Thanks!! 😀

While waiting for others to arrive, I showed her around. 🙂

I don’t know if these holding areas (in case anyone needed to temporarily drop items) were worth it; they took 8 pattern slots and there was a lot more I wanted to make, like cupcakes and gumdrops.

Lollipop island! xD Well, the lollipops could have been a lot better if there were more shades of each color (i.e. dark purple, medium purple, light purple). All I could really do was a white highlight. But they’re colorful and I had fun matching flowers with them!

I’m much happier with how these ice cream cones turned out; the cone contains browns that are used for winter dirt, so I couldn’t have a dirt background, and the colors I used for the ice cream are the same that are used for snow, but I think it turned out looking okay regardless.

In the board game CandyLand, the object of the game is to make it to the end at Candy Castle, so in this case, I guess the town hall serves as Candy Castle. xP It explains the royal-themed prizes for winning, too: either a royal crown, crown, throne, or lots of bells.

Sleeping Rain ^_^

I finished showing Rain around and was going to suggest that we go ahead and do a two-player race when Skye (also known as MonkeyDoodle) showed up, saving me from leaving my position as judge:

Welcome Skye, thanks for coming!

I gave her a pink rose and peachy shirt, and her present for me is that treasure box by the rock. Inside was a blue dot parasol to go with the rest of my blue apparel. 😛 Thank you!

Starting the King Tut/minefield race!

Rain was first by a longshot since Skye fell into a pitfall; cautiousness won over speediness, a thought that occurred to me as I was planting the pitfalls. 😛

Next was a treasure hunt! I buried Gulliver items, snowman furniture, spotlight items, and an assortment of other things. I hope everyone found some good stuff!

Yay, Jemma’s here! 😀 Thank you so much for coming, it wouldn’t have been the same with just three people!
I gave her a snow shirt and Kiki’s picture since she was one of her favorites and moved away. 😦

Jemma hunted for the remaining treasure and then we began CandyLand! I don’t have any pictures at all from this, I was very busy “drawing cards” using a random number generator. Numbers were assigned with color cards and double color cards, so with every result from the generator I had to check which color card matched up with it and type that in with AC:WW’s keyboard, while trying to keep track where everyone was. Maybe others can fill in with pictures! 🙂

Anyway, Skye got to the finish first and chose a crown as her prize; then Rain, who chose the royal crown; and Jemma close behind, who chose the throne over bells. Then we celebrated with party poppers!

We got pretty good at setting them off close together using the timer. 🙂

Jemma had a few poppers left when we decided to stop, so she got close-up shots from all of us 😆

We did another race since Jemma missed the first one, only this time there were no pitfalls since I dug them up during the treasure hunt, so it was just a King Tut race. It’s hard to tell in the picture, but you can see one of the King Tuts getting up from falling in the background. 😛 Rain didn’t fall, so naturally she won again. ^^ Everyone got equal prizes since it was just luck — no skill in avoiding pitfalls.

Finally we tried out the wrestling game, in which the three guests faced off in a 3×3 square surrounded by pitfalls (a game I first saw here, I think). I couldn’t see well because there was a tree in the way, but all of a sudden I saw both Skye and Jemma struggling in pitfalls with Rain in the middle of the square, the last one standing. 😆 While I worked to sort out the prizes with all the various money bags in my pockets, everyone fell into even more pitfalls over and
over, whether accidentally or purposefully I’m not sure. 😛

Jemma had to go after that, and it was getting very late for Teru, so I partied over after chatting with her and Skye for a while:

Thank you so much for coming, all of you, I hope you at least had a decent time! 😛

A new neighbor moved in today to replace Bill, placing his house right next to the CandyLand track.

At first I thought he was Teru’s Antonio because of the Chic pattern he’s wearing, made by her character Breeze. But he’s a new Antonio, I just have that pattern displayed at my Ables’. 😛

Now time to deliver Teru’s birthday present for me to Blathers… 😀

I wish he’d talk about the paintings a little like he does with the other exhibits. Can the real names not be used because of copyrights or something??

Yay, my painting exhibit is now complete!

-_-

The painting that completed my exhibit, thanks again Teru!
